May Day, May Day…. A Fun Idea
I have an idea to share and I’m so excited about it!
First though, Laura and I have to say thank you to everyone who came by our booth during Sew Expo in Puyallup! And a special thank you to dear Angela! Holy cow, the show was amazing! We made many new friends. Quilters are such a great group to hang out with. Thanks again to all of you and we will definitely be back next year!
I also promised an outline of the seminar I gave so look for it at the end of this blog.
Now, I don’t know about you but I am so hungry for spring! I’m actually starving for spring to arrive. So much so, that I went searching for it out in the yard. That started an idea.
See what I whipped up with Little B’s Garden Fabric? I know it’s early for May Day BUT if you started now, you could make them for all of your friends! This is our “Girly Gear, Ruffles Pattern". It’s a darling little purse for little ones to carry their stuffed animals in, their crayons, and any variety of “girly stuff”. But isn’t it a great May Day basket too? Wouldn’t you love to find this on your door? I found some blooming Daphne out in the yard and the smell is so delicious (note the food theme, it’s nearing lunch time!). Then I thought, well, if someone was nice enough to deliver this to me, I’d put these darling little flowers in water. Here is my little floral vase.
A sweet side note. Dave and I got this little treasure from a woman in her nineties at our wedding. I believe she wrapped up something she owned to give to us. It’s not an expensive piece, it is a little creamer. But it’s really special to me. It’s so sweet filled with Daphne. I know this family friend, who is long gone, would be pleased to see what her gift has meant to us, well, probably more me than Dave. You know how that is!
Anyway, here is what else I found to give me hope of spring on this rainy blustery day.
In order: my primroses blooming, my peonies poking through, a variety of Lungwort, and a combination of an ornamental grass with Grape Hyacinths (I love the mix of those two colors in the garden and in fabric).
Finally, here is the outline of what I spoke about at Sew Expo in Puyallup.
