Pattern of the Month Highlights

The Pokey Pincushion is something I love.  Here is why. Laura proposed we make a pattern for a pincushion. I was skeptical.  I had a pincushion. It was made by a dear relative that had passed away.  It was what I used.  Period.  But Laura has a way of encouraging.  So we designed a very simple pattern.  Oh, my goodness!  I love it!

I still use the sentimental pincushion by my sewing machine.  A place of honor.  But the Pokey Pincushion is so wonderfully easy and perfect in every way and I love, love, love the walnut shell stuffing.  So this pincushion sits on my ironing board.  Or I move it to the cutting table.  Or I move it to the side table when I’m hand sewing.  I never knew I needed another pincushion.  Now I want two more. I will play with color when I make them.  You might need one (or more) too and this pattern is affordable and so darn easy! BGQ1203, Pin Cushion Filling.

A Few Things...

Good Morning!  I have more inspiration for you from fabulous floor mat maker Cindy from Canada.  She made Circle Time and tweaked it just a bit.  Isn’t it gorgeous?  Adorable doggie too!

Also, I want to announce our “New Newsletter” launched on Valentine’s Day!  If you are interested in signing up to receive it, click on the tab on the home page of beachgardenquilts.com and sign up!  Our first feature shows off the entire collection of Little B’s Garden, our first fabric line!  We are going to have features, sales, and fun information about what’s going on at Beach Garden Quilts!

We are working with Little B’s to make a Morning Brew floor mat.  See how fun it is to work with?  We added some of our Ric Rac Ribbon sold from the website.  Check it out for your own project!  It’s great stuff.

I spent some time with my friend Karen this weekend.  It was her birthday.  A group of friends went power walking on her special day, or was it power talking?  Hmmm.  Not sure of the answer!  We had a blast.  Check out our picture (I'm on the far left and the birthday girl is in the raspberry coat).

We had a powerful windstorm yesterday.  Dave and I went to an early dinner at one of our favorite diners here on the island.  Normally we go there for breakfast.  If you ever get over to the island, check out the Streamliner Diner!  It’s famous for breakfast.  The dinners are delicious too.  During dinner the power kept flickering.  It was really windy!  Fortunately, the power stayed on but the weather was really wild.  Even had thunder and lightning.

We've added a few tips and tricks under the "Tips and Tricks section of the home page.  I will keep adding so keep checking.

Happy Quilting!
