Pattern of the Month Highlights

The Pokey Pincushion is something I love.  Here is why. Laura proposed we make a pattern for a pincushion. I was skeptical.  I had a pincushion. It was made by a dear relative that had passed away.  It was what I used.  Period.  But Laura has a way of encouraging.  So we designed a very simple pattern.  Oh, my goodness!  I love it!

I still use the sentimental pincushion by my sewing machine.  A place of honor.  But the Pokey Pincushion is so wonderfully easy and perfect in every way and I love, love, love the walnut shell stuffing.  So this pincushion sits on my ironing board.  Or I move it to the cutting table.  Or I move it to the side table when I’m hand sewing.  I never knew I needed another pincushion.  Now I want two more. I will play with color when I make them.  You might need one (or more) too and this pattern is affordable and so darn easy! BGQ1203, Pin Cushion Filling.

Little B’s Garden….coming August 2011!  Preview!

Okay, we are just a wee bit excited here!  Close your eyes and think about fireworks on the 4th of July.  Or, I know!  How about a thousand helium balloons sailing to the heavens on a blue sky, summer day?  Or, oh, oh, parades, parties, dances and any kind of good solid fun you can remember.  Anything!  If we could fill a bottle with that much fun and then pour it out today, well, that is how it feels to reveal our first line of fabrics from our friends at Clothworks.  We are so excited to show them to you!

Now, they won’t be at your favorite quilt store until August BUT we want you to be the first to see them.  We have six designs and three colorways for each.  That is 18 total.  To save time I will show six of them every week for three weeks and we'll have a giveaway to celebrate (more on that later).  Here are the first six.

 Main Fabric - coral

 Secondary BlueLeaf light

 Swirls lightButtons Green

 twigs pink

We love flowers!  Can you tell?  Ha!  And our name is Beach Garden, so of course we love the less formal, simple idea of flowers in a cottage garden.  Our idea was flowers growing through chicken wire.  So simple and easy.   Oh, we just can’t wait to touch the fabrics and begin new projects!  But we have to wait too.

In honor of this most wonderful occasion, we are giving away a bundle from Clothworks of another designer fabric:  Look below.  It’s beautiful fabric just not our beautiful fabric!  So comment on the blog OR send me an email to lynnette.sandbloom@q.com to let Laura and I know what you think!  Free fabric is always a beautiful thing!  We need to have your comments by next Monday the 7th at midnight to be eligible for the giveaway!

Fabric from ClothworksIt will be something similar to this!

More fun pictures. Laura and I have some new friends from Victoria, British Columbia – our wonderful neighbors to the north.  Cindy was kind enough to share some pictures of her new doggie mat and a beautiful hand painted mat that she made.  Lucky dog and beautiful painting and design.  Spectacular!  Thank you Cindy for sharing!

Laura and I have been working on new projects for our fabric, projects for our up and coming show at Sew Expo in March and new patterns for the wholesale market in Salt Lake.

The Tips and Tricks for Floor Mats Link is up on our website.  I have some things to add and get it going but we are now closer!  So be sure to check it out in the next week or so!

In the meantime, get those comments in to win!  And thanks for sharing in our excitement!
