Pattern of the Month Highlights

Introducing our newest pattern called Winslow Wallet. We know, we know, there are lots of wallets out there. What makes ours different? We tailored it exactly to what we need, a place for cash separate from credit cards and punch cards. A coin purse. Simple and efficient, and oh, so easy to sew! We made 17 during the holidays. Really. Order this pattern today. You will be glad you did! BGQ1201

Three Gorgeous Floor Mats

Have you ever had a chance encounter that transformed into something fabulously wonderful?  I have.  Let me explain.

Traveling to Houston last year I sat next to Angela from Clothworks.  I had never met Angela before but once we got to talkin’, we were friends by the end of the flight, actually a lot sooner than that!

So Angela met Laura, Laura and I met Joyce, and we were both introduced to Jane.  We had the pleasure of meeting dear Candace and nice Ted, and now many other dear and wonderful Clothworks friends, including the furry, loveable, and adorable Delphi.  It’s sometimes like weaving fabric, the way friendship happens.  It’s a beautiful thing!

Anyway, all of this is leading up to a gathering at the studio and Laura’s house on Saturday.  Angela, Joyce and Jane came for a mat making session.  Now in my mind we were going to go out on the lawn, with the sun a-shining, and the mats drying with each step quickly and efficiently and our three friends happily skipping off the island with a beautiful mat in tow.

Instead we had drizzly rain and it was cold!  Welcome to June in the northwest!  The anything-can-happen kind of month that reminds us of why the grass is so green and the trees are so lush!  RAIN!  But given that we are all northwest natives, we took it all in stride, worked in Laura's garage, and by the end of the day, the rain had stopped and the mats (although not sealed and waxed) were put together and GORGEOUS!

Here is a picture of the end of the day:

Here is a picture of the beginning of the day – latte’s and yummy treats!  Thanks girls for the treats – we loved them!

FM7Delphi, such a wild dog to have visit!

By the end of the day, Jane had left, Dennis, Jon, Dave and Chelsea had joined us and we ate some delicious take out Thai food.  Yum!  And the mats will be finished up this week and delivered to Clothworks for our dear friends to enjoy.  They are really quite stunning!

Thanks Angela, Joyce and Jane!  And let’s do it again!

Yesterday was Father’s Day and Chelsea and I took Dave to our favorite breakfast spot in Winslow.  Then Dave and I drove out to a new nursery (by now you might guess that we are plant junkies) between Kingston and Hansville.  It was a great spot and we found a few things for our garden – imagine that!

We kept driving towards Hansville and discovered a beautiful beach, in the rain (remember – we are rain hardened around here!) that had purple clam shells everywhere.  We didn’t walk too far but we definitely want to go back and take a picnic next time in the sunshine!  It was really fun.  Here are the purple shells and a funny picture I took of Dave with his new raincoat - it has a funny pull tab at the hood - not sure why - but I wanted him to be able to see it!  Notice the rain on his jacket - it was pouring buckets on Sunday!

Dave got a call from Chase wishing him a Happy Father’s Day and we enjoyed a wonderful barbeque dinner.  All in all a great Father's Day.

Another Big News Flash! Laura and I finally got around to pulling names from the contest in Minneapolis-we truly are just catching up from a very busy market.

We had two contests:  One prize was a floor mat kit - tada!  Lucky winner is Joyce Hartley from Quilting Adventures in Richmond, Va.  Joyce is very excited and told me that she never wins anything - no longer true!  We are so happy for her, congratulations Joyce!

Our other winner of six patterns has not responded us back, are you out there Nancy?  We'll give her a week to respond and if she doesn't, we'll pull another name!

All in all a great weekend despite the rain!  Here is to sunshine and sewing!  I’m keeping my fingers crossed!  Have a great week!
