TWO of TWO
Graduation Day was Saturday for child number 2 of 2. Daughter Chelsea graduated from high school and it was bittersweet because we are going to be empty nesters and we are going to be empty nesters!
Graduation takes place outside, no exceptions. Have I complained yet about how rainy this spring has been? Not really. It doesn’t bother me most of the time because I was born and raised in the Seattle area. This week Dave and I were really wishing and hoping for a beautiful day though and whola! We and every other parent of graduating seniors on Bainbridge got our wish!
Here are some pictures of the day:
Notice how the mortar board (shown right and below on left side) shows up on the field! The "W" stands for the University of Washington!

We had the pleasure of our son’s company for the weekend. He flew out from Wyoming for the weekend and sigh; he has to go back today. Here is a picture of brother and sister.

Here is a family picture, taken by Laura and Jon. They had everyone’s cameras and they were such good sports to snap away and take so many pictures for the family – they must have been holding 7 or 8 cameras!.

Now for quilting news! WE ARE VERY EXCITED TO BE PICKED UP BY E.E. SCHENCK! A wonderful northwest wholesale distributer located in Portland, Oregon. What a terrific place to be! We love everything they carry and of course, now we love even more because they carry our patterns! Here are the two patterns they will be carrying:
Dog Leashes "101" & The Button Collector
Did you notice the new detail in the blog? We have a new title. Look for new features in the next few weeks including our favorite websites and such.
I have another couple of items to report before I head to the studio for the day.
One is that I am taking an extension class through the University of Washington and it starts tomorrow. I am so excited! It really doesn’t have anything to do with quilting per say, except that it will add to my creative life which will spill over to design and creativity, I am sure. It’s a class on illustration for children’s books. After my mother passed away several years ago I wrote a little story about her and I have always dreamed of putting it together in book form. So it will be my project for the class. Here is my preliminary drawing done some time ago of my mom - it’s a little rough – but it’s a cooking story really as my mother LOVED to cook and feed people. Stay tuned! I will be very busy for the next month but thriving because this class is a dream come true! I have wanted to take it for over 20 years.
My mom throwing onions, tomatoes, bell peppers! She loved wearing slippers!
The second item that Laura and I are over-the-moon excited about is a visit from our friends at CLOTHWORKS on Saturday to make floor mats - purely for fun! I promise to share pictures with you next week!
I turned off my computer all weekend long to concentrate on my daughter’s graduation but now I am ready to get busy in the studio. Laura and I had a great planning session a week ago so look for updates as we start getting our ideas for fall down on paper! I hope you have a creative week, whether sewing, crafting, drawing and painting, gardening, or whatever – just for the fun of it!
