Pattern of the Month Highlights

Introducing our newest pattern called Winslow Wallet. We know, we know, there are lots of wallets out there. What makes ours different? We tailored it exactly to what we need, a place for cash separate from credit cards and punch cards. A coin purse. Simple and efficient, and oh, so easy to sew! We made 17 during the holidays. Really. Order this pattern today. You will be glad you did! BGQ1201

The “To Do” List this week: Items 1 to 5

Posted by lynnette on Monday, June 7th, 2010

The “To Do” List this week:  Items 1 to 5.

Item # 1.  Show you delightful pictures of some adorable college kids!  This goes back to Memorial Weekend at Laura’s house.  I just got these pictures. Laura and Jon fed and housed this group all weekend!  But who wouldn’t want to?  They were a fabulous group!

 College Kids 1At the playground!

College Kids 2On Jon and Laura's boat headed to Seattle.

College Kids 3Jon and Laura's hot tub.

Item # 2.  Final pictures of “the chair” painted for my 88 year old friend Ted.  If you remember, he wanted a chair for his garden that included the following:  Moles (in the seat so he could sit on them – he doesn’t like moles!), earthworms, ants, a wren, a hummingbird, fireflies, a ladybug, and a frog.  And I threw in a dragonfly, moth, flowers, leaves and watering can.

That was a very tall order and I got the chair a week ago Friday.  It was taking up a lot of space in my studio so I painted it quickly.  So many other things to do.  Delivered it on Saturday.  Just over a week!  A record for me!   Check out the pictures of the final project.  Ted loved it.  That’s Ted in the chair in the last picture by the way.

Item # 3.  Met with Laura on Friday and planned our summer and fall.  Yes, we are organized.  We are figuring out how many dog leashes to make each week over the summer to be ready for fall market, like 4 – not so bad if we can keep to the schedule!  Also plans include sketching out a couple of the graduation quilts for new patterns since I winged it on all but two.

Here is one preliminary sketch, possibly using it fall or spring market:

Item # 4.  Make more dog leashes (see item #3).  Look at the two I whipped out yesterday while in the studio:

Item # 5.  Okay, it’s not really an item.  It’s a daughter.  Mine to be exact.  Chelsea is graduating from high school on Saturday.  Now, I’ve been pretty sure I wouldn’t be sad because well, she’s wanted to go to college ever since her brother headed off to college in 2005.  She watched him enjoy it and graduate and she couldn’t wait for it to be her turn.  So it is her turn!

Why in the world am I just a little sad and emotional?  Not sure but I’m guessing I sense the end of an era and both Dave and I would say it has been the most amazing ride!  We really are looking forward to the next chapter so it’s not all sad.  But we are definitely going to let our emotions rule for the next week.  It’s genuine!

By next Monday, I’ll have my tissues tucked away and my dancing shoes on!  I’ll be dancing for Chelsea, Dave and myself!  Come August we are empty nesters!  Whoohoo!

And a few extra pictures I took this week just for fun:

Fabric StashThis is my stack of fabulous fabrics from the International Quilt Market Sample Spree.  They are sitting on the couch and I can't put them away yet.  I drool over them every morning.

Peonies June Peonies from my yard.  Even though we've had tons of rain, they are beautiful!

Okay, that's it!  Have a great week!  We certainly will!
