Pattern of the Month Highlights

Introducing our newest pattern called Winslow Wallet. We know, we know, there are lots of wallets out there. What makes ours different? We tailored it exactly to what we need, a place for cash separate from credit cards and punch cards. A coin purse. Simple and efficient, and oh, so easy to sew! We made 17 during the holidays. Really. Order this pattern today. You will be glad you did! BGQ1201

Fabric Junkie Heaven!

Good Morning!  I can’t believe it’s been a whole week since we visited our friends at Clothworks.  Angela and Joyce showed Laura and me such a great time.  And we enjoyed meeting Candace again and everyone who works at Clothworks!  I promised pictures, so here we go.

Fabric – oooooh, I was salivating!

Shipping Department, did I mention I love packing things for shipping?  Odd I know, but it’s true!   I love Clothworks boxes with their fabulous logo so clearly displayed.

Here are the four of us just before Laura and I were getting ready to leave. (L to R) Laura, Joyce, Me and Angela and Delphi, of course - see below!)

Above is the most lovable dog EVER!  His name is Delphi and he was training to be a Seeing Eye Dog who, when I mentioned, “Gee did he flunk out?”, was quickly corrected and told that he decided to change careers!  I love it!  Delphi is LOVED and I was right on board with everyone else in the love department the minute I met him!

We will be heading to Spring Quilt Market in Minneapolis in two weeks and we will be next to our friends at Clothworks.  We can’t wait!

Speaking of market, the days are flying by!  We have six new patterns to début and we are very excited about them.  Here are the newest titles:  FRENCH BAGUETTE, THE BUTTON COLLECTOR, CIRCLE TIME, JUMPING JAX, GLORY BE, AND DOG LEASHES “101” – yes, we are making dog leashes!  Wait till you see!  I will post pattern covers just before we leave for market.  We are very excited about our newest offerings!

Now a few family happenings here at the Sandbloom household……..

This morning I was up at 4:30 for a little time in the studio before I came back to the kitchen at 5:30 a.m. for a little baking.  This is not my usual habit, I assure you!  Normally I have to be dragged out of the studio in the morning!   But Chelsea is doing AP testing this week and the teachers have requested breakfast items before the three hour long test!  So how could I say no?

I made two batches of scones and sent them along with butter and homemade raspberry jam.  They came out of the oven just a few minutes before she had to leave so I hope they are gobbled up!  I will repeat this on Thursday morning for another AP testing day.  I hope the delicious food translates into happy pencils moving across the page!

I finally went to a Mariner’s baseball game at Safeco field - I hadn't been to a game since the ol' Kingdome days!  Since Chase is still here for another week and Dave scored some fabulous tickets (some kind of club tickets, wait, I just noticed it says the club above Chase's head - it's the All-Star Club, so we got amazingly delicious FREE food - we are talking halibut fish tacos and soft serve ice cream with all the fixins and a bazillion other delicious offerings) all four of us got to go! Even though the Mariner’s lost 6 to 3, the score didn’t dampen our fun!  Here are a few pictures of the day:

mariners (300x225)Dave and Chase enjoyed a beer and peanuts.  We did have to pay for drinks, man, those beers are costly, but given the other treats of the day, we are not complaining!

Chelsea played around with my camera and took this panaramic - I didn't even know my camera could do that!

View of Seattle as we were heading back to Bainbridge via the ferry.  Kind of a gray day.

Laura and Jon also went to the Mariner’s game but they went on Friday night.  Pictures, Laura?  Teehee, I have to tease her because I get ribbed for never having pictures posted of Laura and crew BUT she never takes any!  Anyway, Jon is a PE teacher at an elementary school nearby and his school had a contest with another nearby elementary school to see who could sell more tickets to the Mariner’s game (it was a school fundraiser) and Jon’s school lost by the teensiest margin!  So Jon had to wear a PINK tee shirt with the other elementary school’s logo all day Friday at school (wish I had a picture of that to show!) AND wear it to the Mariner’s game too!  Oh, the humiliation!  And if you know Jon at all – PINK is NOT his color!

Jon and Laura went to Seattle Friday via their own boat with Steve and Sally and they all slept aboard the boat.   EARLY Saturday they headed out “shrimping”, as they were determined to catch some shrimp on opening day.  Well, they worked really hard and ended up with around 50 shrimp all told.  Darn!  I think they were hoping for a lot more!  But if you count the fun had by all, it was worth every single minute, shrimp or no shrimp!  They had a great time with Sally and Steve.  After returning home and getting organized, Sally and Steve made some sort of fabulous dinner dish - oh, I can't remember in the moment what it was - using the shrimp and invited Jon and Laura back over for dinner.  Now that’s about as fresh as you can get seafood!  DELISH!

Well, today is all about shipping our goods to market so I better be off!  Next week we’ll be celebrating Mother’s Day and honoring all of the wonderful women we know; not just mothers but grandmothers, aunties, girlfriends, daughters – any and all of the fabulous women in our lives.  I love the Mother’s Day holiday!  It’s a great time for sewing, gardening, and crafting as a way to honor those you love or to honor yourself.

Have a great week!
