Pattern of the Month Highlights

Introducing our newest pattern called Winslow Wallet. We know, we know, there are lots of wallets out there. What makes ours different? We tailored it exactly to what we need, a place for cash separate from credit cards and punch cards. A coin purse. Simple and efficient, and oh, so easy to sew! We made 17 during the holidays. Really. Order this pattern today. You will be glad you did! BGQ1201

Perfectly Blustery Quilting Weather (if only the power was on!)

Perfectly Blustery Quilting Weather (if only the power was on!)

Happy Monday to all!  We just got power back and it’s the second time we’ve lost it in the last few weeks.  It’s springtime after all and blustery – wild, windy, sunny, rainy, unpredictable days are part of the deal.  I just wish sewing machines and irons worked when the power is on the fritz.  Darn!

We are excited to be heading to the show in Anacortes this week.  Laura and Jon are busy readying the boat so the boys (Jon and Dave that is) can join us for an evening and we will use the boat as our home away from home.  Best water view around!  This is a new show for us so it will be fun; we love adventures.  I will look forward to sharing details next week with lots of pictures!

In the meantime, we continue to work toward wholesale market in Minneapolis.  We got GORGEOUS, and we mean GORGEOUS Sweetwater fabric in the mail – new line called PURE, and we are busy working on two floormats for the show.  One will go in the Sweetwater booth, remember the circle quilt?  Yes, the one I was scratching my head about and that has turned into the newest darling in our pattern line-even though it's still a nameless pattern at this point!  And the 24" x 36" smaller version will be in our booth.  We will be launching this pattern in Minneapolis and we are over-the-moon-excited to début it!

I also tested the very patriotic quilt (from an earlier blog) that had yet to be named and tada!  The name is Glory Be!   Here is a picture of mine, not so patriotic in colors but a happy, scrappy version. It includes fabric from both Laura and my studio spaces.  I took it in to be quilted on Friday.

Glory Be (450x600)

Above:  Glory Be - available late spring

Laura joined me on our trip to Marybeth’s and took a darling pineapple quilt she will display on her porch as a hospitality quilt when finished.  Sorry; I have no idea who the designer is (and I would share if I knew because we all rise collectively together in this world!) but I love the eye-popping pineapples! There is never a doubt as to Laura’s passion from the moment you step onto her very welcoming porch!  If she can fit a quilt, it’s there!  This will make a bright and cheery addition, for sure!

Pinapples Galore (450x600)

Laura's Pinapple Quilt, don't know who the pattern is from!  Sorry!

Laura has been busy "writing" patterns for the new designs.  She is an amazing pattern writer.  I have sewn from some very poorly written patterns in my lifetime.  I am sure you know what I am talking about.  Laura has such a business sense and her organization and clear thinking are perfectly honed traits for the job!  And she writes them with every level of quilter in mind! Yee haw!

 Dot 3.27 (600x450)

Our sweet little Dot!

Okay, off to the studio to get some more projects done!  Never a dull moment this time of year!  I will leave you with my newest picture of our dear Dot, Appoloosa-apple-of-my-eye horse!  Dave and I went out and watched Chelsea take a lesson.  I love the sights and yes, even the smells of the barn!  I am a horsey want-to-be!  I may trot all the way down the driveway to the studio door!  You are only as old as you feel!

  • http://www.designinmotionquilting.com/ Lisa Kaupp did the same quilt! I'm not sure if she is the original designer, but I saw the quilt and remembered it right away.
