Sports, Horses, Love and Graduation Quilts
Are you glued to the Olympics like I am? This is the one time I love TV as much as my dear husband. Apollo Ono, the first Canadian Gold on home turf, moguls skiing (how do those poor knees hold up?), pairs skating, enormous courage and tragedy, and always, always drama. It’s like a fabulous novel you can’t put down. For two weeks it will be hard to get much done, thankfully I only watch after dinner until I can’t keep my droopy eyelids open!
We own the most adorable horse. Our beloved Dot had a little extra attention this week. We had the vet take a look at her movement as she’s been a little bit stiff on her feet lately. Dr. Hills did all kinds of tests, thankfully nothing wrong, and gave her some medicine that will help her loosen up a bit. So I was out at the barn Friday with Chelsea, Dave went on Saturday, and we all went on Sunday to take her on a walk. Here are some pictures of our dear Dot, a leopard Appaloosa mare. We rarely see anything like her at horse shows, especially not in the Hunter Division that Chelsea and Dot show in. When we got Dot several years ago, Dave’s comment was “I’ll always be able to spot my daughter in the sea of brown and black horses”. Over the years, Chelsea has felt that that is both a blessing and a curse!

Laura and Jon are out of town this weekend. They went with another couple to Las Vegas. I hope they have fun and win some dough! I drove them to the ferry as they were heading into the city to catch their flight. Laura was chuckling – she’s really not much of a gambler, this is more to hang out with friends, get away (after all the computer hang ups, she certainly deserves it!) and relax. I hope she can in the city that never sleeps! They arrive home this evening. I’ll give you an update on the win/loss record when I hear!
I did snap a picture of the blooming flowers that hang from her porch. Probably everyone but me knows what this plant is called but I don’t have a clue. It smells wonderful and gives her porch some real pizzazz, don’t you think?

I finished another graduation quilt for one of Chelsea’s friends. Here is a sneak peak. I am trying to finish five before June! I’ll keep sharing as I keep working on them. I started number three this morning!

We heard from our son in Jackson Hole yesterday. Chase is my skier extraordinaire and recent college graduate who is literally working to ski. He's living with a group of friends that moved to Jackson Hole from Bainbridge. He is hoping to stay at least through the summer or fall. He called to wish us a Happy Valentine’s Day. We had sent him a treat basket with Starbuck’s coffee and a new mug. He’s not into sugar treats like his mom and sister are!
Chelsea brought us these beautiful tulips yesterday. I love the colors! So sweet of her!
Yes, same table runner without binding you saw last week!
Dave and I went to breakfast as our Valentine treat, traded cards of love, and had a nice dinner of barbequed steak, new potatoes with fresh chives from the garden, sautéed mushrooms and salad. All in all a lovely day!
Have a great week!
