Spring in January?
I am doing the “it’s January, I should get into shape” thing. So I am walking. The weather is on my side this year as we have just officially had the warmest January on record! I got a new tiny camera that fits in my pocket. I took it with me this week. My local park has been full of beautiful sites, including an adorable little bunny that thought he was hiding from me. In fact, he seemed to think I couldn’t see him at all!

The cabin is looking like spring with the primroses blooming. We hung one of our easy patterns called Kit and Caboodle last year along the side for a photo opportunity - check it out. The tulips are not up yet but it makes me excited for spring.
In the studio, I am enjoying sewing a kit purchased long ago and made from hand dyed solids (they are overlapping yet another project - a new bedroom quilt). I am thinking of giving this bright quilt as a gift to a friend’s daughter for graduation from high school. Could there be a better present than a quilt? I don’t think so!

Laura has been working hard to put her new computer together. Let me just do the honors for her ARGHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!! We both wish we were just a little more computer savvy! She is getting there though! She also went to the boat show on Saturday with Jon and had a great time!
I had another terrific weekend and its still birthday related. I know this has gone on forever! This is it though; I am ready to be over turning 50! Anyway, I spent the night at the Sheraton Hotel with my sisters Colleen and Denise. HOW FABULOUS! We should do this once a year at least. We have never done anything like it. We went out to dinner, went to Avatar (I highly recommend it!) and went shopping the next day. All of that was great but the very best part was hanging out with two incredible, interesting, and funny women that I am lucky to have as sisters.
Chelsea was a little under the weather so she lounged around Sunday while Dave and I took a class on pruning at our local nursery. We LOVE to garden and have a lot of experience trimming trees, shrubs and flowers but we both learned a ton. Did you know that the kind of clippers you use to trim can actually do more damage than good? That blueberries should have some of the oldest canes removed so that the berries stay big and juicy? I also had all my questions answered about my hydrangeas – which are my favorite shrubs in my garden.
I promised a picture of our newest pattern but didn’t get over to Laura’s to take a picture so look for it next week. Too busy! Also I’ll be starting a companion piece to the round floor mat that you saw last week. Stay tuned!
