Another Birthday in the Family
Posted by lynnette on Sunday, January 10th, 2010
We celebrated another family birthday this week. Jib, or Jibby as we affectionately call him turned 10 on Thursday. For non-boating people, a Jib is the small sail on a boat. Here is a picture of our little pup.

He is an 8 lb. Italian Greyhound and the biggest couch potato in the family. His favorite thing to do is find a warm spot to sleep (preferably a lap). We’ve had the pleasure of his company for nine years; my sister Colleen found him for us and he was a rescue. Potty training was a bit challenging with a one year old but that was his only fault and he figured it out pretty quickly. Thank goodness!
He sleeps every night with our daughter, in the bottom of her bed. We are not quite sure how he breathes but he charges out of bed every morning at breakfast time. When she spends the night at a friend’s house, he insists on sleeping between Dave and me! We are trying to figure out a plan to send him with her to college or we are going to have to adjust to a very hot, very space hogging bed partner!
The weather in the northwest has been very mild this week and so we worked out in the garden today. This is the area near the cabin on our property where we were weeding although it's too dark to see anything but shadows. We’ve had so much rain that the weeds were positively leaping out of the garden along with bazillions of worms!
My head has been trying to figure out the best way to make a circle floor mat and so my mind was wandering as I was cleaning out and pulling weeds. I am thinking of triangles around the edges, and many bands of color before reaching the center of the mat. That circle edge is challenging though and I want it to be EASY like all of our other floor mat patterns – if you haven’t yet tried one, they are so fun and addictive to make. Stay tuned as I solve the problem!
I checked in with Laura today. Her bedroom is torn apart as her daughter gave her the gift of painting it for a holiday present! She has chosen a wild turquoise color and I love it! Quite a change for her and Jon as the old color was painter’s white. Here is a sneak preview. You go Laura, it feels so good to clean and paint and organize this time of year!
I’ll be blogging again next Sunday, or sooner if I have an epiphany about the circle mat!

You'll be pleased to know that I have finished my 5'x 6' quilt that I started this Fall. My sister gave me all of her material...I mean, FABRIC so I made a scrap quilt...with lots of help from you-know-who. Keeps me warm on the couch with Fred (the cat). I'll bring it over to show you one of these days. I think you may need a cardamom wreath soon too!by sally on 12 January 2010 at 8 p.m.
